Brambleby Socks
On cold winter nights, I love to curl up with a book and a hot cocoa. Handknit socks add the perfect finishing touch to a cosy evening. Like a good book on a cold night, Brambleby Socks will keep your mind engaged as you knit the meandering cable and little bobbles, with relaxing rows of stocking stitch and rib in between.
YARN
Onion Nettle Sock Yarn
(70% wool, 30% nettle; 185m per 50g ball)
2 x 50g balls, sample shown in colour 1011
Or substitute with 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn of approx. 300-370m.
NEEDLES & GAUGE
2.50mm or size needed to obtain gauge, in your preferred style for working small circumferences in the round (i.e DPNs or long circular needle)
Note: I recommend knitting Brambleby with needles 1 size larger than you usually use for socks, as the cable panel naturally has a firmer gauge than stocking stitch.
1 repeat of Cable Panel measures 6cm/2.3” wide x 2.5cm/1” high (24sts x 12 rows)
OTHER
4 stitch markers
Cable needle
SIZING
Womens Small (Medium, Large)
SKILL LEVEL
Intermediate.
Knit from the cuff-down.
Written and charted instructions are included for the cable panel.
