For cold weather knitting projects, often times one looks for inspiration from a forest. When I am designing knitwear taking inspiration from the natural world, sometimes I think of branching and repeating patterns also called fractals for which when cables are used along with ribbing, it makes the fabric textured. This is one such beanie. I have designed it using a very easy to work cable and rib pattern with twists, turns and cross overs that gives a branched appearance.

Finished Size: S-M, M-L & L-XL; 11.5 (13.75, 16.00) inches 29 (35, 41) cms circumference (unstretched) and 7
(7.5, 8.5) inches 18 (19, 21.5) cms high.

Yarn: Worsted Wt. Cascade 220, 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, Worsted, 100g/220 yards, 1 skein.

Needle Size: Size 8 (5.5mm), 16 inch (41) cms circulars and set of double-pointed needles (dpns). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions: Stitch markers.

Gauge: 20 sts and 24 rows = 4 inches in St st.
