A sweet, top-down pullover with a graceful, branch + blossom cable motif at the hem. The sweater is worked inside-out so that you barely have to purl at all! And all the hard work of charting the delightful cable pattern upside-down and inside-out is all done for you, so you can just follow the directions with ease (Not into charts? No worries--the cable pattern is also written out line-by-line for you).

The sample is worked holding a strand of mohair-silk lace weight with a strand of single-ply fingering yarn for a drapey fabric that’s out-of-this-world soft! Alternatively, you can work the sweater in a DK or worsted weight yarn to the same gauge.

The sweater is designed to be work with 0-2” of positive ease at the bust—make a size that either measures the same as, or an inch or 2 bigger than, your full bust measurement. There is no waist shaping, but increases are made for the hips to keep the fit comfortable but not over sized.

Want something even more basic? Skip the cable motif altogether, and if you’re careful with your finishing, you’ll have a super-soft, no frills sort of sweater that you can wear reversibly.

3(3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5) skeins Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light (420 yds/110 g, color Great Gray Owl), or approx.
890(1065, 1175, 1260, 1400, 1525, 1700, 1875) yds of mohair-silk laceweight yarn, and
890(1065, 1175, 1260, 1400, 1525, 1700, 1875) yds of single-ply fingering weight yarn.

Note: If you want to make the sweater with a single strand of DK yarn, I can’t vouch for the exact yardage you’ll need. It’s reasonable to assume that you’ll need only 890(1065, 1175, 1260, 1400, 1525, 1700, 1875) yds of a thicker yarn, but experience tells me that you will likely need a bit more than this because single yarns just behave a little differently from double-held yarn.
