Branching out
This mitten patterns features densely knit cables organized in a simple botanical inspired pattern. Cables wrap all the way around the mitten for a thicker knit-fabric that traps warm air and keeping fingers cozy. These tiny cables made up of two stitches are more easily knit when knitters leave the cable needle aside and employ the “cabling without a cable needle method”. If you have never tried it before we strongly encourage you to give it a try with these mittens. There is a picture tutorial included in this pattern which describes this method. Warning: if you try it you may never reach for that cable needle again!
These mittens were knit in a divine fibre blend of merino, cashmere and nylon. Slipping them on feels incredibly decadent! The Knit Cafe relied on the wonderful, colour design prowess of Canadian hand dyer Yarn Indulgences when choosing the yarn for these mittens. The colour shown here was designed for The Knit Cafe’s Yarn Club and is a limited edition colour only for yarn club members. We highly recommend a MCN yarn blend for these mittens but any wooly worsted weight will do.
