KNITTED FOR SUN-BATHING

One of the most popular beach styles overseas is the two-piece outfit of brassiere and shorts, with a large handkerchief or sun-top to slip on when one comes out of the water.

To make the brassiere, 2 ounces of wool in green, one ounce in white, and a pair of No. 12 stratnoid knitting needles are required. A deep band of ribbing ensures a trim appearance at the waist.

The upper edge is finished with double crochet, through which fine elastic is threaded, while the shoulder straps are worked in a special stitch that will not sag or stretch.

The pattern for the shorts was published in the September 27, 1934, issue.
