BRÅSVELBREEN
The sweater is named after the glacier plateau Bråsvelbreen in Svålbard and is inspired by vintage Norwegian patterns. Glaciers have beautiful colors and different structures of ice crystals and the traditional Norwegian patterns often pick up these wintry shapes, provided by nature.
Round Chest: (92) 97 (106) 115 cm
Sleeves: (46) 47 (48) 49 cm women, (50) 51 (52) 54 cm men,or desired length
Recommended yarn: Double Strand Plötulopi or Álafosslopi both from Istex, Iceland
The example on the photos is knitted with double Plötulopi
Amount of yarn needed (approx.)
Plötulopi:
Basic color: (300g) 300g (400g) 400g
Background Yoke: (100g) 100g (100g) 200g
all other colors: 100g
Álafosslopi:
Basic color: (500g) 550g (650g) 750g
Background Yoke: 200g
Pattern color N°2 (snowflakes): 150g
all other colors 100g
Alternative: Blåne (Pelsullgarn) or Troll from Hillesvåg Norway
Don’t forget to recalculate the amount of yarn needed, when choosing other yarn than Léttlopi.
You can use any yarn as long as it matches the gauge

The Eyelet Mock cable ribbing technique (neck bend) is NOT described in the pattern but you can find a link to a youtube tutorial on my website.
The pattern uses the simple 1k/1p technique.
