Break It Up!
This recipe looks lovely in a solid or tonal yarn, but it’s really great for breaking up variegated yarns that you feel might pool or flash in a way you don’t want.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A STITCH PATTERN, NOT A PATTERN FOR A COMPLETED ITEM. If you know how to knit in the round, you can use this ‘recipe’ for the around-and-around part (sock legs, sweater cuffs, cowls); it breaks up variegated yarn quite nicely (but it looks nice in solids, too).
Update 5/13/14: I just saw a note written in 2013 that because this is a stitch pattern and not a pattern for an item, I’m not supposed to show pictures of a finished project that used this pattern.
Let again make it very clear: This is not a full pattern for an item. It is a ‘recipe’ for a stitch pattern that can be used for socks, cowls, hats - anything that can be knit in the round.
Hokey dokey?
This recipe has been test knit a couple of times and I think it’s good to go, but if you have a problem or question with it, please let me know.
There are also lots of words here; once you do the first set, you’ll see that the concept is easier to grasp than it is to explain. Give it a shot!
