Breathe for Four
May is Mental Health Awareness Month. We are so lucky to already love a craft that is good for our mental health! But I thought it would be fun to take it to another level. The pattern will make a scarf, cowl, or shawl. All 3 shapes are listed. You can use any weight yarn and make it any size. Because this is less about the product and more about taking 5 to 30 minutes every day to connect our breath to our knitting.
This pattern uses a sequence of knit 4, slip 4, purl 4: inhale for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 4. This takes a minute to get used to! So start with only 5 minutes. I found sipping the air for the knit helped me slow my breathing in.
I hope you can take sometime for yourself each day and increase your calm.
The Shawl is a bottom up triangle. I used Florence by Alexandra the Art of Yarn - but this is was a special run and you cannot buy it. So find a super yummy yarn in a light DK or sport.
