The Bree cardigan is a striped and fitted cardigan. It was named after the iconic Bree Van de Kamp from the Desperate Housewives show. She is wearing cardigans non stop throughout the entire show and it became evident that I had to create one and give it her name.
However, I wanted to put a fun twist to it so I added color and stripes. However, you can absolutely knit it in one solid color and disregard the instructions for color changes.

The Bree cardigan is knit from the top down. First you’ll knit the back, shaping it with german short rows and then you will work the two fronts separately. The back and both fronts are then all joined under the arms. The body is worked back and forth. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armholes and you will start shaping the sleeve caps using german short rows in the round. The sleeves are then worked in stockinette in the round with a few decreases.
The twisted rib details for the fronts and the collar are worked in last.

Materials

The pattern calls for two strands of yarn held together : a fingering weight yarn and a lace weight yarn.

You will need 230 (240) 280 (320) 380 (410) 440 (470) 490 g of Alpaga from La Droguerie (50g = 173m) held together with 80 (90) 100 (110) 130 (140) 150 (160) 170 g of Plumette by La Droguerie (50g = 500m) in total.

You will work with 2 colors for the stripes and you will use about the same amount of each color. The amount given above is for both colors, so for the entire cardigan.
If you decide to use another color for the ribbing as I did, I suggest you use leftover yarn as you will not need a lot of yarn. Otherwise, 20-30 g of Alpaga and 10 g of Plumette will be more than enough.

You can use any yarn that gives the same gauge.

You will also need 7 (7) 7 (7) 8 (8) 8 (8) 8 buttons of Ø 12 mm.

Needles 4,5 mm needles 40 cms and 80 cm
4 mm needles 40 cms and 60/80 cm
7 buttons Ø 12 mm

Gauge 10 cm = 19 stitches x 26 rows on 4,5 mm needles in stockinette
