Breida is a top-down seamless yoke sweater that is knit in the round. There is a folded ribbed neckline followed by short rows at the back of the neck for a comfortable fit. The yoke features stranded colourwork in a Faroese pattern with increases for a comfortable fit. The colourwork pattern continues through the rest of the garment as background colours fade into one another. There is optional waist and hip shaping to add feminine shape achieved with changing needle sizes.

B: 3.5 mm (US 4) circular needles 80cm/32” long AND circular needle, double-pointed needles or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round or size to obtain gauge
C: 4mm (US 6) circular needles 80cm/32” long AND circular needle, double-pointed needles or preferred method for knitting small circumferences in the round or size to obtain gauge.
Adjust the needle size if necessary to get the correct gauge.

Gauge
21 stitches & 24 rows = 10cm/4” in colourwork with needle size C, with one colour in stockinette stitch, and with stranded colourwork, knitted in the round, after blocking.
Please note that gauge can vary between plain stockinette stitch in one colour and stranded colorwork. Adjust needle size where necessary so that the correct gauge is achieved throughout the garment.

Ease
Recommended ease: 10cm/4” positive ease.
Choose a size that is 10cm/4” larger than your actual bust circumference.
Neck ease: 2.5cm/1”
