2+ projects – scarf-wrap/shawl -edging

I’m becoming obsessed with designing new stitch patterns for crochet lace, here’s the latest: The Fan-Flower is created using extra rows within a row, in essence “short rows” as in the partially worked rows used in knitting (Directions for the short rows are fully explained). The pattern is a repeat of only 3 rows to create these lovely motifs and an additional 3 rows of the same stitches offset. A key to achieving the lacy effect is blocking the piece to open up the stitches.
The stitch pattern looks great as a skinny scarf or make wider for a wrap around shawl, or maybe a cowl with a seam. The Fan-Flowers pattern also makes a lovely edging on a shawl or summer top.

Pattern includes charted instructions for both the scarf/wrap and edging, plus written instructions for the stitches of the 3 row pattern and the short rows of the motif. Pattern length & width is adjustable.

Materials:
I used a Lace Weight Wool for the scarf, but Fingering Weight would work well also.
The sample edging is worked in #3 thread.
Yardage will vary as the pattern can be tailored to your desired width & length.
(150-200yds for a scarf, 400-600+yds for a shawl)
