I have problems with scarves. Everyone, it seems, wants one, but I can never get the motivation to finish them. All those little rows over and over of the same thing! So when I had a request for yet another scarf with no real guidelines other than “washable and burgundy,” I decided to try to create a scarf that would knit up quickly but be simple enough for a man to wear (no lace this time!). This scarf is worked the long way, so there are just a few rows of a few hundred stitches. It is easy enough for a beginning knitter, but the long rows mean more experienced knitters can zone out while watching TV (or sitting in lecture in my case), making it a fast and meditative project.
