Jumpers with stranded yokes are a hot trend in the knitting world right now. Sraightforward construction…the chance to explore colours….I can see why they’ve become so popular!

The Briarfield Pullover features a striking geometric pattern. It looks great on all sorts of body types, and the detailed schematic will help you to make adjustments to suit your style.

Briarfield is designed for cosy DK-weight yarn, so it’s a much quicker knit than all the fingering/4 ply sweaters out there. I believe in inclusive sizing, and this pattern is written in 9 adult sizes, from XS to 5X.  

My sample is knit in Patons Extrafine Merino yarn, an affordable option for garment knitting. I think it would also look great in a more traditional woolly wool, which would show the colourwork to best effect. For added impact, why not use several different contrast colours in the yoke?

Patons Merino Extrafine DK: 7 (7, 8, 9, 10 // 11, 11, 12, 13) balls MC and 1 (1, 1, 2, 2 // 2, 2, 2, 2) balls CC.
OR DK weight yarn in the following quantities:
MC: 810 (910, 1010, 1130, 1220 // 1340, 1440, 1550, 1660) yards / 740 (830, 920, 1030, 1120 // 1230, 1320, 1410, 1520) metres
CC: 90 (100, 130, 150, 160 // 180, 190, 200, 220) yards /
90 (100, 120, 130, 150 // 160, 170, 180, 200) metres

Construction
The Briarfield pullover is worked in one piece, in the round from the top down. It begins with neck ribbing; short rows are then worked, followed by a stranded yoke. Stitches are held for sleeves, and work continues down the body, with waist shaping and a ribbed hem. Sleeve stitches are returned to needles and sleeves are worked in the round from the top down, ending with a ribbed cuff.
