I like sideways construction for sweaters, because it seems to me that they are easier to customize for a perfect fit. Plus, it is much easier to add a vertically-oriented motif, like the Color Brick motif I used in this pattern.

The sweater is worked sideways, with modified armhole, 3-needle bind-off side seams and in-the-round sleeves.
