Bricked
There’s an entirely new phenomenon happening in my house. My boys are becomes skaters. We’ve done roller skating, ice skating, and rollerblading before. That is not which I speak of. This is Sk8, of the board variety. Along with it comes a whole new language, clothing, and…truth be told, a feeling of utter panic in my mama heart. (will they break an arm? Will they crack a skull? YIKES!) I am enjoying, however, how their skate culture seems to embrace the knitteds. bricked is an incredibly fun and clever design (completely dictated by my eldest) with a perfectly proportioned brim. The knitting begins with a sideways band, then joins at the edge to knit in the round up to the crown. The brim is picked up from the bottom band, and worked like a sock toe. Three sizes to fit any of your skaters! The sample above is worked in Malabrigo (Paris Nights), and pattern will work well with any worsted weight yarn.
