Bricks and Blocks
Bricks + Blocks is a long, wide, swooshy, loose-fitting cardigan. The boxy shape echoes the box motif on the sleeves and the bottom section. No shaping makes this garment a meditative and easy knit.
Work two fronts alike, then work the back section which mirrors the front section, then join, either using the 3-needle cast-off method (giving you a neat seam on the inside of your garment). Alternatively join using the Grafting Stitch method, effectively giving a stocking stitch seamless join, which looks as if you have knitted the garment as one piece.
Add the collar by picking up stitches around both left and right front panels and the back of the neck section, then work a simple 2x2 rib. The last section is the sleeves, worked in the Bricks + Blocks pattern repeat and finished off with a pop of colour for the cuffs. B+B is worked in DK and 4ply. The bottom section of the fronts and back are in DK, giving them substance and weight. The top section is worked in 4ply for a less dense and lighter drape.
When dry, wear and enjoy!
