Brief Intermission
Casual and satisfying knitting for the in-between times. Brief Intermission is a bandana cowl knit from the point up. Starting back and forth then transitioning to in-the-round before finishing up. Garter stitch paired with slip stitches all the way. The design is engineered without any flipping of the working yarn from front to back. You’ll thank me. Brief Intermission works up quickly in worsted weight. The pattern is adapted easily to other gauge yarns. Make a worsted one first.
Yarn: Manos Alegria Grande (197 yds, 100g) (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon) - 1 skein
Materials:
Needles: US #8, 24” circular
Stitch marker
Tape measure
Gauge (pre-blocked):
18 sts and 22 rows over 4”
in pattern stitch (slip stitch over garter st)
Finished measurements:
28” circumference, 14” high
Note:
This pattern is engineered so that you’re not flipping your working yarn back and forth from from back to front for slip stitches. You’re doing the slip rows “blind” with the wrong side facing you. Occasionally check that your “slip floats” are making a brick pattern. If you get off pattern check that you’ve increased at the beginning and end of each wrong side row. The “rest” row is a great place to rip back to if that becomes necessary.
