Give your space a colourful makeover this summer with this deceptively simple rug, made from chunky textured T-shirt yarn. It can be altered in size to fit whatever space you need it to – to ensure the increases stay even, remember that if you start with 12 sts then you need to increase each round by 12 stitches – this will keep the rug flat.

Fabric and jersey-based yarns like this one are prone to stretching, so try to maintain an even tension as you work. Be careful not to pull on the yarn too much as this will cause it to stretch and draw out of shape.

The rug is worked from thecentre outwards in rounds from a foundation created with a magic ring to start.
