Simplistic texture makes Briley a fan favorite for newer sock knitters and anyone looking for something more potato-chippy without going with a plain vanilla sock. This textured sock pattern also plays very well with various sock yarn types, so whether you’re working with variegated, self-striping, speckled, or a solid, you’ll have an enjoyable and unique outcome.
This pattern is rated as easy but could easily be tackled by an adventurous beginner, as the pattern has helpful links to not only achieve a proper fit but give you some insight into what to look for in a sock yarn!
Worked in the round, Briley contains both cuff-down and toe-up written directions and a chart for the pattern stitch. The pattern has instructions for an afterthought heel, but you may substitute whatever heel you enjoy using.
The pattern is written for the magic loop method for knitting socks; however, the design could be worked on double-pointed needles or mini-circulars instead should you prefer.
