Nothing evokes the feeling of Summer like seeing streets adorned with bunting. Whether it’s in readiness for a celebration or a good old-fashioned Summer fete, it’s always a joy when the sun comes out and the bunting goes up!
This half-circle shawl was inspired by the street parties of the Royal Jubilee in 2022. The simple shaping and body of stockinette stitch makes it a really nice project to showcase a colourful skein of yarn. Go as bold and bright as you like! When you reach the border, yarnovers and double decreases work together to create triangular pennants along the bottom of the shawl. The sections between are worked in garter stitch to showcase your smooth, colourful ‘bunting’ and to add a final flourish of texture!
When the daytime festivities spill over into long, cool evenings, you can wrap this light shawl around your shoulders to keep the chills away. And when the colder seasons creep in its versatile shape makes it perfect to wrap around as a scarf; a cheerful reminder of those warm, sunny days of Summer.
