I hope you do not knit this kippah.

I hope you knit this kippah, but by the time you come to the motif, there is no longer any reason to wear a yellow ribbon. Perhaps you could insert a different motif instead. Perhaps you still knit the ribbon, but in pink for breast cancer, or another of the many options to raise awareness about some other important cause. Perhaps you finish it off with stripes or simply leave it plain. I hope you are knitting it and you hear the good news that they are all home, and you rip out all your painstaking colorwork.

I hope you do not knit this kippah. But if, when you read this, they are still not home, I hope you or someone you love wears it in pride and in hope.
