Brioche Loves Garter Stitch Hat
After the Brioche Heart Hat - I had to make another hat with brioche and garter stitch combination as well as the brioche hearts. Here is the result, and I hope you like it! With the sizes below, you can increase or decrease as many stitches as you like for a fitted hat. Happy knitting!
Yarn: Shown samples S (purple/aquamarine) and M (red/white) is knitted with Easy Care Classic (Mayflower) 50g (1.76 ounces)/105m (115 yards), S = MC Dark Aquamarine (299) CC Dark Purple (208) and M = MC Red (114) CC Raw White (116). You can use any other DK weight yarn.
Needles: 3.0 mm/US 2.5 for the ribbing and 3.5 mm/US 4 for the pattern. 40 cm/16’’ circular needles + double pointed needles or long circular needles for Magic Loop during the shaping of the top
Gauge: 19 st x 22 rounds in 10x10 cm brioche stitch with 3.5 mm/US 4 needles
Yarn used: Less than 50g of each colour (I used total 135m/150 yd for S and 165m/185 yd for M)
Finished size: In stated gauge you will have around 12,5-14,5-16,5 cm/section. Height: 23-24-25 cm.
Circumference S: 38 cm (M): 44 cm L: 50 cm. (Note the stretchiness of brioche, the size increases approximately 50% with stretching!). S is for children (but fits adults as well, as seen below on picture). M for adults. Make L if you want a loosely fitted hat.
Other tools: Tapestry needle for weaving in ends, stitch marker
This pattern includes both written and chart instructions. It also includes a photo tutorial for the brioche stitches, helping you new ones to brioche knitting. If you already are familiar with brioche knitting, you only need to print out the first 9 pages.
