I like the look of knitting brioche patterns very much, and I have always wanted to recreate them in crochet.

Brioche Waves pattern includes complete instructions to complete the blanket and the cowl shown in the pictures. The pattern comes in two versions: “airy” – good for cowls, scarves and blankets, and “overlay” – ideal for trivets, bags, chair pads and potholders.

In fact you can use this stitch pattern for everything!

This easy to follow pattern (17 pages) is written for one size. It contains step by step full written instructions in English using standard crochet abbreviations and US terms (stitch guide is given in the pattern). It also contains lots of pictures explaining all the tricky and difficult places.

Crochet level: Intermediate (front post stitches)

Materials:

• Yarn in 2-4 colors. For blanket I used yarn “Colour crafter” and “Colour Crafter Velvet” yarn by Scheepjes in shades:1063, 844, 845. And “Merino Soft” for the cowl in shades: 605 and 610.
• Crochet hook 4-4.5 mm (G-US7) or the size that will give an acceptable gauge.
• Scissors and Tapestry needle to weave the ends in.

Size: The size of the finished blanket depends on the yarn and hook you use. My blanket is approx. 98cm x 136cm (38.5in x 53.5in) large. Width and Length can be easily adjusted to your taste and needs.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern, as with different yarns and hooks you will get a different gauge. And it’s not critical for the pattern.

But just to give you an idea of the gauge for my blanket: one repeat (16sts) is approx. 9cm wide (with Colour Crafter and 4mm hook). And 22 rows of airy version (the blanket) make 10cm in height.
