Brisbane Redux
I really enjoy the juxtaposition of the femininity of lace elements with the strong, classic lines of traditional cables. In the Brisbane Hat, we see a loose trellis grid of interlocking cables containing ranks of eyelet trimmed leaves, all set on a background of reverse stockinette. This hat begins at the brim with a narrow band of 1x1 ribbing and works upward through a single motif repeat. Reverse stockinette panels melt away during shaping while the grids remain strong.
In its first incarnation, Brisbane was worked in a very light, gossamer cashmere yarn. This version features a more toothsome and durable fingering weight yarn.
