British Garden Birds
Pattern to knit four chunky British garden birds for Spring.
Step-by-step instructions to knit and make up a robin, blackbird, blue tit, and a songthrush, using textured stitches and introducing simple colourwork. These are some of the most loved garden birds, and are fun to make for Spring crafting. With their cheeky looks they make nice gifts for kids.
To make these birds you’ll need to be able to knit, purl, and work increasing and decreasing stitches. The pattern will teach you how to knit texture and how to do colourwork.
You will need: chunky yarn in various colours (we used a combination of Stylecraft Special Chunky, King Cole Big Value Chunky and Cygnet Chunky but you can use any type you like), a pair of 4.5mm straight knitting needles, scraps of felt, cotton, toy stuffing and sewing needles.
