Broadfield is worked from the bottom up. The brim is worked in garter stitch. Short-rows are used to create an angle from front to back, making it wider/longer over the ears. Detailed instructions are included regarding the wrap & turns.

Yarn: 190 (200, 220) yds / 174 (183, 201) m of DK weight yarn. Shown using YOTH Yarns Big Sister (231 yd/100 g skein); 80% Merino, 10% Nylon, 10% Cashmere; color: Hazelnut, 1 skein.

Gauge: 20 sts/26 rnds = 4”/10 cm in the round in garter after blocking using smaller needle. 20 sts/30 rnds = 4”/10 cm in the round in stockinette after blocking using larger needle. Gauge is critical for this project, and will affect the finished size and yardage.

Needles: US#4/3.5 mm and US#6/4.0 mm 16”/40 cm circular needle & a set of US#6/4.0 mm DPNs, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions: 11 (12,13) stitch markers (one in a different color to mark the BOR), 1 removable stitch marker, and a tapestry needle. To help keep track of the wrap & turns, I have included detailed instructions regarding placement of 2 markers, as well the removable marker, in the Not-So-Secret Thoughts.
