Wrap yourself in luxury with Broadleaf, a stunning sweater featuring a highly textural brioche motif on the front and back. The pattern calls for one strand of mohair and one strand of sock yarn, creating a beautifully cozy fabric that drapes elegantly. Plus, with the option to include a stockinette back, you can customize your Broadleaf to your desired level of texture.

Designed to be knit flat in two pieces and seamed with a mattress stitch, Broadleaf features dropped sleeves and a flattering boatneck that makes it both comfortable and stylish. Whether you’re lounging at home or stepping out for coffee with friends, this sweater will keep you cozy and chic.

Our samples feature brilliantly colorful mohair and sock yarn indie-dyed by Spun Right Round, resulting in an eye-catching stained glass effect. You can also choose an accent color for the foreground of the brioche motif to add even more visual interest.

But don’t just take our word for it! Broadleaf is an addictive and exciting knit that several of our testers have made their own, using a variety of yarns, sizes, and colors. If you’re looking for a fuzzy texture without the mohair, consider substituting with Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk ($5/ball) for equally stunning results.

Yarn Description: Our samples feature SpunRightRound Classic Sock and Mohair Silk. The blend of these two fibers creates a dynamic fabric that has both exquisite softness and a cozy factor that’s off the charts! The combination of mohair + sock creates an exciting opportunity to fade several colors together as the mohair has a magical way of blending and softening the colors held alongside it, especially in reverse stockinette.

Classic Sock is a 4-ply sock yarn of 100% Superwash Merino with a strong round twist and silky texture with the slightest sheen. It blooms upon blocking making deliciously plump stitches.

Mohair Silk is a laceweight 72% kid mohair, 28% silk blend with a soft halo surrounding a strand of gently twisted silk core. As soft as a bunny’s tummy this blend lends a gorgeous halo to your finished piece.
