Broken Fences is knit from the top down with increases on both sides to create a long crescent shaped shawl. With a simple lace pattern that is both intuitive and relaxing the shawl knits up quickly and without fuss.

I designed this shawl using a single skein of single ply yarn from On The Round. I have to admit, I’m a bit of a fan of her color ways. I may have several skeins in my hoard (…stash) just waiting to become something beautiful. I knit my very first shawl with a rainbow set of single ply, worsted weight yarn from On The Round. I remember being terrified of ruining such beautiful yarn and constantly putting off casting on that first shawl. Once I plucked up the courage I discovered a whole new world of self care. Knitting became my avenue for stress relief, managing my anxiety and inner reflection. Every project is a reflection of my journey to create a better me. I’ve knit many shawls since then, but that first rainbow shawl is still my favorite and holds a very special place in my heart. Creating my first design using this single ply fingering weight yarn from On The Round felt a little like coming home. It was such a joy to knit and create with.

Suggested Yarn
On The Round Everyday Lite

The sample used one skein of On The Round Every Day Lite in Barred Owl. Test knitters used at least 90% of their yarn so please check your gauge to insure that you have enough yarn to complete your project. The shawl does feature a garter band border, which can provide an easy place to make adjustments if you find yourself running short at the end.
