You will need 4 oz or 250 yards per square! A little more for the seaming together and border if you wish to make one.

Make 9 squares for a ~51 inch x 51 inch blanket as each square is 17 inches. (4 oz or 250 yards per square!)
Make 16 squares for a ~68 inch x 68 inch blanket.
Make 2 squares for a fancy pillow!
