Broome Turtleneck Vest
This sleeveless turtleneck features I-cord edgings along the armholes for a clean, no-fuss finish. Layer this allover ribbed vest over a lightweight long-sleeved shirt or wear it alone to let your arms be free to feel the spring breeze.
Difficulty Intermediate
Finished Size 29 (33.5, 38, 42.75, 45.75, 50.25)“ bust circumference. Vest shown measures 33.5”; modeled with 1.5” of positive ease.
Yarn The Fibre Co. Cumbria Worsted (60% merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair; 238 yd/3.5 oz): Buttermere, 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins. Yarn distributed by Kelbourne Woolens.
Needles Size 4 (3.5 mm): 32” circular. Size 6 (4 mm): 16” and 32” circular. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers; stitch holders; tapestry needle.
Gauge 21 sts and 30 rows = 4” in rib patt on larger needles, slightly stretched.
Notes This vest is worked from the top down. Stitches for the fronts are cast on and the fronts are worked separately to the neck, then joined and worked to the underarm. The back is worked separately back and forth to the underarm. The two pieces are then joined and worked in the round to the lower edge.
