This neckwarmer is a great beginner pattern for those new to broomstick lace. It does take a little different spin by using a super bulky yarn and offset broomstick lace. This creates a much more dense fabric.

The pattern is free on my blog, and I’ve included a video tutorial showing how to do broomstick lace for those new to the technique. This pattern is very very easy to modify for different sizes. You could also use any weight yarn and appropriate hook, but you would have to adjust your starting stitch count and number of rows.

I used: 1 skein Malabrigo Rasta in Cian
A size N/9.00mm crochet hook
A size 35 (19mm) knitting needle.

If you don’t have a large knitting needle, you can easily substitute with something you have at home - even rolled up paper can work in a pinch (just roll a few sheets of paper together so it is strong enough, then tape the edge smooth). I’ve also used a ruler, or the cylindrical case from my candy thermometer (though that wouldn’t work for this particular project since it wouldn’t be long enough).
