About the design:

The Brormand sweater is knit from the top down. The neckline is based on the invisible cast on / provisional cast on. The measurements are taken on the piece before use – the sweater will stretch a bit when used.

The arrangement of the stripes are up to the knitter, as long as the colours are used evenly (). The sample in the picture is worked alternating between 6 and 8 rounds per colour. To reach the specified lengths some colours are repeated once more than others.
The rib for all edges are all worked in the same colour, but you can change colours here also, if you wish it.

Work out the yardage required for a multi colour from the yardage required for knitting with a single colour.

All measurements, especially sleeve and body, are guidelines. Please take the intended recipient into account when choosing size.

Finished Measurements:

Sizes 1 (2) 4 (6) 8 (10) years.
Chest: Approx. 62 (67) 72 (77) 80 (85) cm.
Body, length: Approx. 24 (27) 29 (32) 36 (38) cm.
Inner sleeve length: Ca. 25 (28) 30 (34) 38 (40) cm.

Suggested yarn:

Snefnug from CaMaRose, 55% Alpaca, 10 % Merino wool, and 35% Cotton, 110 m/50 g.

Colour for rib and strips: 1 (2) 2 (2) 2 (2) skeins. (Grå 7311)

First stripe after the neckline (raising of the neck): 1 (2) 2 (2) 2 (3) skeins. (Askegrå 7310)

Last two stripes: 1 (1) 2 (2) 2 (2) skeins. (Snehvid 7811 and Jeansblå 7340)

If worked in one colour: 4 (4) 5 (6) 7 (7) skeins.

Suggested needle size:

Circular needle 30-40 cm: sizes 3.5 mm, 4.0 mm, 4.5 mm, 5.5 mm for neckline (alternatively dpns).

Circular needle size 5.5 mm: 50, 60 , and 80 cm. Circular needle size 4.5 mm, 60 cm for rib on body.

Double pointed needles (dpns) for sleeves: Sizes 4.5 mm, and 5.5 mm.

Gauge:

16 sts x 23 rounds = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on size 5.5 mm after washing..
