“Hey, where did we go/Days when the rains came?/Down in the hollow/Playing a new game,/Laughing and a-running, hey, hey,/Skipping and a-jumping/In the misty morning fog with/Our, our hearts a-thumping/And you, my brown-eyed girl,/You, my brown-eyed girl.” The lyrics to Van Morrison’s song “Brown Eyed Girl” are the inspiration for this sweet & flirty shawlette. This is a bottom up, lace edged, crescent shaped shawlette that is as pleasing and easy to knit and wear as the song’s lyrics and melody are to listen to. I used Manos del Uruguay’s kettle dyed Red-Brown Silk Blend yarn (3 skeins, 150 yards per skein) in shade #300U to make this wrap. It is DK in weight and has excellent stitch definition and drape, which really shows off the faux cabled lace border and also the short row King Charles Brocade Stitch used in the body of the shawlette to their best advantage. Charts and written instructions are both included in this pattern. The finished shawlette worked in DK yarn is about 6 feet in length and about a foot and a half wide at its widest point.
