Brushstroke Cowl is the companion of my other pattern Brushstroke Hat and they were both designed to highlight hand-painted and variegated colourways, combining two of my favourite stitches- brioche and herringbone.

Using just one skein of either 4ply held double or a single strand of 8ply, this cowl is the perfect way to show off a special yarn with two beautiful and timeless texture stitches.

If you are new to either brioche or herringbone stitch, now is your chance to learn! This pattern gives detailed instructions and includes a link to a video tutorial which can give you a helpful visual aid.

Both Brushstroke Cowl and Hat have become my favourite project to make when trying to use up my stash of special single skeins :)

Needles:
3.75 mm/US size 5 circular needle (50-60 cms long)
8 mm/US Size 11 circular needle (50-60 cms long)

Notions: Removable stitch markers & tapestry needle

Yarn:
Fingering weight/ 4 ply held double
Quantity needed: approx. 350-400 metres/380-437 yards total
Alternatively, this pattern can be done using 1 skein of DK weight yarn held single strand. You will need approx. 180-220 metres/196-240 yards total
