'Bryony' Eyelet-stitch Matinée Set
by Rita Taylor
This less elaborate matinee set (but still with a little touch of lace) is ideal for a new knitter to make because there is very little shaping. The jacket back and fronts are simple rectangles, and the sleeves are picked up along the armhole edge and knitted downwards.
It is knitted here in a luxury yarn, but any double-knitting (light worsted) weight could be used for equally pretty results.
Materials:
- 464 m (508 yds) / 200g double-knitting yarn (shown in 276 Skipper colorway)
- 2m (2yd) of 1cm (3/8”) ribbon
- 1.5cm (5/8”) diam. button
Tension/Gauge swatched on 3.75mm needles (US 5)
Jacket:
chest: 44cm (17.5”)
length to back neck: 25cm (10”)
sleeves: 17cm (6.5”)
Bonnet:
crown to brim: 16.5cm (6.5”)
circumference: 28cm (11”)
Bootees:
foot length: 10cm (4”)
circumference: 14cm (5.5”)
