Quick, fun bubble hat, worked from the bottom up in a simple construction.

Sizes: XS-S-M-L-XL. See description box above for further info on size, materials, yardage etc.

Double Crochet. Note, there are 2 gauges listed, depending on which size you are making

Learn how to create cute bubble texture in a different way, using only a few basic crochet stitches. Worked up in super bulky weight yarn, this is a super simple way to create a fun effect in no time. When you are done you will know a new technique and have a finished hat to wear or give as a gift :-)

Crochet techniques
This pattern uses the Foundation Single Crochet method instead of regular beginning chain row. This gives a sturdy, yet more elastic foundation for the brim than a traditional chain row, and that is nice since you want the hat to fit snug and still feel comfortable and not too tight around your head.

I have included a link to a video tutorial in the pattern if you are unfamiliar with the FSC method.

In this pattern you’ll also learn two different ways to create a ribbed effect. One is more dense than the other. You can pick whichever you prefer. Photo and video-instructions are also included for this part.

Skill level
This is not a complete beginners hat, though I will say that it is a good option to expand your skills if you feel ready to take on a few more stitch variations. Photo – and videoinstructions in the pattern will help you every step of the way.

Optional: This hat also looks very cute if you add a pom pom. I didn’t include instructions in the pattern, but one of my testers is working on making available free instructions on how to make a fitting pom pom. I’ll link when instructions are ready :-)
