Bubble Mitts
With their fingers free, most kids are happy to wear these when other mittens or gloves are ripped off! They sport a nice long cuff to help keep them on as well as to cover the gap to the sleeves. With no “left” or “right” mitt, they are easy for anyone to put on as well.
The Bubble Mitts are a blank canvas for stripes or simple colour work and are a brilliant stash buster for leftover sock yarn, using only tiny amounts of yarn; 12-15g per pair! They’re a super fast knit, taking only a few hours to have a pair, and are adorably cute when worn They always get comments from people, they make a great last-minute gift too.
The nature of stretchy knitting, I found one of these mitts will fit my 10 month old as well as my 4 year old easily. Amazingly, I managed to squeeze the same one on to my adult hand as well!! It was tight and uncomfortable, but it goes to show the sizes are fairly universal!
It is a very simple pattern, easily adapted by anyone, and for that reason it is free. I do appreciate acknowledgment if you are using this pattern for selling, but I don’t require any cottage licenses to do so.
