You may notice an increase in the baseline price; that is because I believe it represents a fair amount of compensation for my time and craft. If you can afford the full price, I am glad; if you cannot, please choose a price you are willing to pay, no questions asked. Tiered pricing works on the honour system and I will never know your financial ability, but I would very much like designing knitting patterns to be sustainable for me. This bubbly, textured hat is reversible, and is adapted in part from a swatch in Lynne Barr’s delightful book ‘Reversible Knitting’. It shows the stripey qualities of variegated yarns so well!

To knit this hat, you will need:
Approximately 200 meters/218 yards fingering weight yarn
3mm circular needles with a 40 cm/16 inch cable (size 2 1/2 US) or size to obtain gauge
Set of 4 3mm double-pointed needles (size 2 1/2 US)
Stitch marker
Tapestry needle

Gauge:
29 stitches and 40 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in stockinette stitch

Sizes:
40 cm/16 inches (45 cm/18 inches, 50 cm/20 inches, 55 cm/22 inches)

Required Skills:
cast on, knit, purl, pick up sts, decrease, kitchener stitch.
