Bubbles the otter
This .pdf crochet pattern is written in standard American crochet terms. With this very detailed pattern, you can make a realistic and super cute river otter.
For an experienced crocheter this is an easy pattern, and I always try to write it in a way so beginners can make it too, but it will be a challenge for a beginner.
Size
If you use the recommended yarn, your otter will be 9 inch / 23 cm long from the nose to the end of the tail and about 4 inch/ 10 cm high from the head to the ground.
Materials
For this crochet otter you’ll need worsted weight Lètt Lopi yarn and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need two main colours of yarn: acorn heather (brown) - 0053 (1/3 of a 100-yard skein) and a small amount of light beige heather - 0086. For the nose you can use a left-over amount of black or black (sheep) heather. For the eyes I’ve used 8 mm animal safety eyes. You will also need fibrefill, I’ve used wool filling. A pipe-cleaner to make the tail bendable is optional.
The crochet pattern contains
An intro with useful info. List of materials, tools and accessories needed. Brand and colour numbers of the needed yarn. A clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble the animal, with instruction images with extra notes next to the text and example pictures at the bottom to help you get everything right. All my patterns are text edited for correct English and have been tested by experienced crocheters before publishing.
Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result. Keep in mind a different type of yarn can give a different result!
Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
