The Bucket of Happiness Set has been designed in celebration of a cancer-free diagnosis received by my friend for the breast cancer she has been battling. I used my crochet hook to support her journey by designing a hat set for each of her monthly chemo treatments for nine months. It brightened her spirits and gave me less worry time. Of course, I had to create a set in celebration of her cancer-free diagnosis. I called it the Bucket of Happiness Hat & Bag as that was how we were all feeling.

Along with the bucket hat, I included in the set a water bottle carrier as her energy is improving and she is beginning her walks again.

The hat is made with double strands of cotton making it appropriate for the summer season. The yarn selected and the double strand technique help the hat maintain the perfect brim shape. This design is not recommended for soft yarn as it will not hold the brim shape. The bottle carrier bag only requires single strands.

Both items are a quick make and allow for all kinds of colour combos. Colour planners have been included in the pattern if you want to use your stash like I did to make this set.

The set is appropriate for anyone, but because of the yarn choice, design considers and stitch selection I include the hat as part of my Cancer Series. Look for the “awareness ribbon” displayed on my patterns for patterns that are part of this series.

This set is functional yet fashionable. I hope it makes you feel a little happiness too.
