Budding Rose Shawl
“The rose is fairest when it is budding new, and hope is brightest when it dawns from fears.” -Walter Scott
Welcome to Stacey Namaste Designs. This shawl is part of my Finding Joy series. ”Joy is not a constant. It comes to us in moments - often ordinary moments. Sometimes we miss out on the bursts of joy because we’re too busy chasing down the extraordinary moments.” ~Brené Brown. This series was inspired in order to help us recognize the joy in the little things and ordinary moments that too often pass us by.
This asymmetrical triangle shawl is designed to provide the maker agency, choice, and variation - you can use any yarn, any size, any color scheme. The acrylic mix yarn I chose creates a light and airy garment that flows beautifully and sparkles. For tips on styling, visit this site: 10 ways to style an asymmetrical shawl
This design, the Rosebud Shawl, was inspired by my planting and enjoying of rose bushes. In my previous residence, I had a “walkway” in the back yard with beautiful rose bushes that I would admire, trim, and cut from for lovely home displays. When we moved, the backyard we moved into was full of plants to acquaint myself with and tame, but there were no rose bushes. I missed my roses soooooo much! I have carefully re-landscaped, choosing gorgeous and fragrant roses. I find SO much joy in those new buds that crawl up from rose vines, promises of beauty and fragrance to come. It is a delight watching each rosebud bloom and change as it grows. I chose the yarn colors based on the hues of the roses I’m nurturing and enjoying.
The photographed example is in a color gradient yarn, Hobbii Universe in color Blaze Star #18, 28 stitches to 38 rows for 4,” needle size 4. This yarn is an acrylic mix, 100 g per skein. I used the whole skein for this project, which creates a flowing shawl that I like to wear like a scarf. Feel free to use less or more to create a smaller or larger item.
