Buddleworth Bear
I’ve been making Buddleworth in many yarns and colours for the past several years; following this pattern faithfully. I just finally took the time to choose some photos of the completed bears will work well as illustrations.
People love to gift this heirloom quality bear to little ones or collectors in their lives especially when created in classic colours of brown or black. Buddleworth is sure to be treasured by anyone who gets to cuddle him!
Materials:
~ Any worsted weight (4 medium)bouclé or eyelash yarn
In these examples I used Loops & Threads Somerset in co-ordinating colours, ideally a darker and a
lighter shade of the same colour. Bernat Boa or Lion Brand Fun Fur, Bernat PipSqueek would also work up super cute.
~ Any multi-ply worsted weight yarn such as Bernat Super Value, Red Heart Super Saver or Loops & Threads Impeccable. Roving type yarns are not so good for this project, as the work needs to
be tight, and novelty yarn does not always have the strength needed for amigurumi on its own. The colour should match the main colour of the bouclé or lash yarn as closely as possible.
~ Worsted weight yarn in black or very dark grey to make nose, or you can use a safety nose 24mm.
~ Yarn Needle, and sharp darning needle
~ Safety eyes, 15 mm
~ Polyester fiber fill stuffing
~ “H” hook, 5mm
~ Stitch Marker
- This pattern uses double strands of yarn in worsted weight but may be worked in super bulky boucle on it’s own. Using Loops and Threads Somerset, you will most of a ball of main colour and about 1/5th of the contrasting lighter colour.
