Buffalo Plaid Cowl
This pattern is found in The Colorwork Bible and cannot be purchased as an individual download. The book is available for purchase here.
One of my favorite parts about winter is the chance to layer on the hand-knits. I love hats, mittens, and scarves in all their varieties! However, they must be functional. This cowl is knit with soft, bulky wool and is extra tall and somewhat snug fitting to ensure it actually keeps your neck warm. This pattern gives you a chance to try out simple intarsia knitting in the round. I chose a classic buffalo plaid color scheme in black, gray, and white and then threw in the green for a pop of color. You can easily change the greens to a different color family (choosing a light and dark color of another chroma), or go with an entirely different color set.

Notions
Marker (m); tapestry needle; scrap yarn for provisional cast-on.
Gauge
12½ sts and 21 rnds = 4” (10 cm) in St st.
Notes
This cowl is knit in the round using the Crochet Provisional Cast-On method. This method is recommended over the waste yarn method, because you’ll be switching colors and attaching
multiple yarn supplies in the first row of knitting, and this is more easily accomplished using the crochet cast-on.
