Buffy's Christmas Stocking
Hi all!
I modified this pattern from Rebecca Brown’s ChemKnits pattern for her American Eskimo dog’s Christmas stocking to suit my Samoyed puppy. The image of the dog now closely resembles a Samoyed, and other new motifs include trees and reindeer.
This stocking is knit in the round using size 2 double pointed needles. The gauge is really not important, but using Spud & Chloe fine yarn, this stocking measures about 4 inches across and 18 inches long.
I have included a chart only. The yellow stitches mark the placement of the afterthought heel. A great tutorial on how to do an afterthought heel can be found here. When knitting the heel, I found that decreasing every round made the best looking, most proportional heel. I knit the toe decreasing every 5 or 6 stitches every other round, as if decreasing for the top of a hat, to make a very round toe.
A finishing touch at the top is an applied i-cord looped over to make a little hanging hook.
