Adorable barnyard animals along with a watchful sheepdog adorn this endlessly customizable design. Main instructions are for a skirt, but this pattern can easily be used to design your own cowl, hat, sweater, cardigan, etc. utilizing the easy to use Design Blocks at the end of the pattern.

SIZING
Skirt is designed with zero ease and gentle waist shaping. For more ease, knit a size up.

Model has a 48” hip measurement and is shown wearing XL with zero ease. (model’s garment has additional waist shaping at the back using darts).

Hip circumference: SM=36”, MD=40” (LG=44”, XL=48”) and a finished length of 20” from the natural waist (just below belly button). Length is easily customizable after the color work band is completed, but would change yardage requirements of the Main Color. Waist shaping starts 4” below a 1” waistband. Work is 15” long before starting shaping.

YARN
Dragonfly Fibers Valkyrie worsted, 100% Superwash Merino, 4-ply, 4 oz/200 yds (113g/182m) per skein.
• 88, 98 (108, 118) yds of Hem Color (HC), sample in District 12 (dark gray)
• 521, 547 (573, 599) yds of Main Color (MC), sample in Kelpie (blue)
• 70, 80 (89, 99) yds of Nekkid (white)
• 26, 26, (26, 26) yds of Black

Note: Variety in the barnyard animals will require 3 yds per animal (4 yds for the Alpaca) of other colors such as tan (Birch), light brown (Latte), light gray (Silver Fox), and pink (Springtime in Washington). The chicken and duck require just 12 inches of red (Dragonberry) and yellow (Apollo) and 1 yard of a medium brown (Cocoa) can be combined with Latte to create a Tunis sheep A kit including the white, black and these variety colors is available at Dragonflyfibers.com .

NOTIONS
• For the knitting: 6 locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, waste yarn for provisional cast on, dental floss or crochet thread for lifeline.
• For the waistband: Option 1: 1” wide flat elastic (circumference of your waist plus 3 inches),T-pins or sewing pins, sewing needle, and strong thread or Option 2: non-elastic cord for a drawstring (1.5 times the circumference of your waist), T-pins or sewing pins, bodkin or large safety pin, sewing needle, and strong thread
• For the lining: Lining the skirt, while optional, will cover and protect the floats, allowing for longer floats without having to tack them down frequently, as well as reduce static cling. Purchase Apparel Lining matching or a bit darker than the HC yarn. Most apparel lining fabric is 54” wide, so 2/3 yd (24”) should be enough for all sizes included in this pattern.
• For planning the animals: copies of the DESIGN BLOCKS section of this pattern, scissors, clear tape, plain paper, and colored pencils/crayons in the colors you wish to knit.
