The Bumble Bee. Who doesn’t love these beautiful insects? We are lucky enough to live in the Cheshire countryside (in the North West of England) and as such, often have huge bees bumbling about in our gardens. What gorgeous and vibrant creatures they are and such a joy to watch!
The story behind our ‘Bumble Bee’ design; Common bumblebees include garden, buff-tailed, red-tailed, white-tailed and field bumblebees. They are social insects, living in colonies of up to 200 workers. Queens hibernate underground during the winter, emerging in spring to find suitable nest sites. Absolutely fascinating! Pammaggie enjoyed the Manchester Bee project so much she asked for another design that focussed on these beautiful insects! So here it is; the newest design and pics of the finished article complete with tassels.
We have developed the pattern in different formats to follow: in a grid/block chart pattern to follow throughout, crochet symbols (for the first 5 rows so that you understand how to increase on each row) and written instructions for the first few lines until you get into the swing of it!
The 4 ply black and yellow yarns were used alternately (and tied off then sewn in) to create this adult size shawl, which looks absolutely stunning.
Knowledge of filet crochet is needed to be able to do this project. Filet crochet is not hard to learn and there are you tube videos to help
