Bumblebee sweatshirt is an oversized (20-30 cm / 8-12”of positive ease) pullover with all-over lace and texture print. It is worked from the bottom up in the round up to the armholes, then split for front and back (worked one by one flat, with armhole shaping), then joined again to work shoulder slopes in the round.

The sleeves are also worked from the bottom up in the round, then joined to the body with simple seams. In the end, the sweatshirt is trimmed with a double neckband (folded and seamed down onto itself) for a sportier look.

This tutorial gives you detailed step-by-step instructions for the whole process, including written instructions, charts (optional), photo- and video-tutorials.

You will need:
yarn
Heavy DK to worsted weight (if using classic merino - 180-220m/200-250yds per 100g/3.5oz).

My sample was knit with two yarns held together:
• Concept Cotton Cashmere (90% cotton, 10% cashmere – 155m/170yds per 50g/1.8oz) + Adele’s Mohair Bambi Yarn (60% kid-mohair, 33% bamboo, 7% lurex – 140m/155yds per 25g/0.9oz)

Substitutes (based on tester samples):
2 strands held together:
• Kutnor Viverone Plus (50% kid-mohair, 22% silk, 16% polyamide, 12% polyester – 160m/175yds per 50g/1.8oz) + Kutnor Viverone (70% kid-mohair, 30% silk – 237m/260yds per 25g/0.9oz);
• Gazzal Baby Cotton (60% Cotton, 40% Acrylic – 165m/180yds per 50g/1.8oz) + any classic kid-mohair (200-225m/220-250yds per 25g/0.9oz).

Single strand (blown chainette structure)
• Katia Concept Cotton Merino (70% cotton, 30% merino – 105m/115yds per 50g/1.8oz);
• Drops Air (65% alpaca, 28% polyamide, 7% wool 150m/165yds per 50g/1.8oz).

You can also use any classic kid-mohair (200-225m/220-250yds per 25g/0.9oz) held triple or absolutely any yarn combo that will give you the right gauge and drape of the fabric.
