This pattern was tested for all two sizes.

BUMBLES is a beautifully textured crochet sock with a striking “branch-like” front detail. It is super elastic and when crocheted with the right yarn will never stretch out of shape, the perfect crochet socks!

PATTERN DETAILS

CONSTRUCTION

Each sock is crocheted flat in one piece with short-rows being used to shape the toe and centre-front detail. Increases and decreases are used to shape the heel and finally the sock is seamed at the sides and the toe.

SIZING

This sock is sized based on TOTAL FOOT LENGTH. FOOT CIRCUMFERENCE is not really important in choosing a size as the chosen stitch pattern can stretch to over 1.75 times unstretched.

Size 1 // 5-13 years (7-8.75” foot length)
Size 2 // Adult Female (8.75-10.6” foot length)

YARN REQUIREMENTS

This pattern requires a light fingering weight yarn. I used Yeye wool, a 100% acrylic light fingering weight yarn in the colour white. You can substitute with any other light fingering weight yarn as long as guage is met.

I do not recommend a 100% plant fibre yarn or a blend with over 25% plant fibre content, this is because plant fibres do not bounce back well after being stretched out of shape.

GUAGE, HOOKS AND NOTIONS

Guage// 28 sts and 28 rows in (slst in 1 st, hdc in 1 st) stitch pattern using 3 mm hook.

Recommended hook// 3 mm and 3.5 mm hooks.

Notions// Stitch markers and a tapestry needle.

For guage, the stitch pattern shrinks up a bit but is very stretchy. As long as you can achieve the stitch gauge while gently stretching the swatch, that is good enough!
