Bumpass Hat uses the same unique lace cable pattern like the matching Bumpass Shawl.

The hat has a slouchy shape and fits a variety of sizes. It’s worked top down in the round. The sample hat is worked with Knit Picks Wonderfluff bulky weight yarn but can easily substituted with yarn weights from Worsted to Aran weight yarns for a less slouchy version. Make sure to check your gauge for stitches and rows to assure that your hat has the desired size.

Pattern details

Finished Sizes: Size S (M) 19” 48.5 cm53.5 cm]) circumference, unstretched at lower hem, 9” (23 cm) length.

Yarn: 1 skein of Knit Picks Wonderfluff, Bulky weight, 70% Alpaca, 23% Nylon, 7% Merino, 142 yards / 50 grams, colorway Larkspur Heather.

Needles: 20 in (50 cm) sizes US 10 (6 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle, set of 5 double pointed needles
size US 10 (6 mm) for cast on (optional).

Notions: 2 stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, Faux Fur Pom Pom by Premier Yarns in color Otter (Optional).

Gauge: 14 stitches and 24 rows = 4 in (10 cm) in Stockinette stitch after washing and blocking.
