I love chunky cowls and textured ones to boot. This pattern definitely gives you texture. I find that I kept running my hands over it again and again.

The stitch multiple is given so you can make this as close fitting or as loose as you desire. Using larger hooks than recommended for your yarn gives this cowl a lovely drape and extra squishy feel.
